Volunteers play a vital role in students’ success and help inspire our students to reach their full potential. No experience is necessary. We will train you and help you do the volunteer work you select. We will strive to make the volunteer experience as effective and rewarding as possible for all people involved — student, teacher, and volunteer! You can make a difference!
Here is just a sampling of ways in which you can volunteer:
- Level 1: Volunteer activity takes place with supervision and involves little or no student contact (e.g., office support, phone receptionist, photocopying, serving on school committees, school beautification)
- Level 2: Volunteer activity takes place in a classroom or other group setting and is supervised by school staff (e.g., tutoring, helping in the computer lab, assisting with book fair, reading to children, gathering resources and supplies, assisting with an assembly program, testing proctor, special events)
- Level 3: Volunteer activity involves direct contact with students under limited supervision by school staff (e.g., one-on-one tutoring, sharing a talent with a student, assisting in health room, preschool screening)
- Level 4: Volunteer activity allows unsupervised contact with student(s) on or off campus (e.g., field trip chaperone, mentor, community/school partner, lunch “buddy”)

A criminal background search is required of all volunteers working individually with students under limited or no supervision by other staff (Level 3 and 4 activities) in programs that are sponsored or co-sponsored by Asheboro City Schools, that receive funding from the school system, or that collaborate with the school system.
