With over 25 years of experience in public education, Dr. Aaron Woody has been a dedicated leader in North Carolina schools. Dr. Woody joined Asheboro City Schools in 2016 as Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. He transitioned to Superintendent in 2019. During his tenure, Dr. Woody has led the district through significant achievements, including navigating the challenges of a global pandemic, refreshing one-to-one technology, and overseeing a multi-million dollar renovation at Asheboro High School. Most notably, under his leadership, the district secured a historic $35 million grant to transform South Asheboro Middle School.
Dr. Woody's focus on innovation and engagement has brought recognition to Asheboro City Schools, including the prestigious “True Trailblazers Award” in 2023 for excellence in literacy instruction. His commitment to student success has led to improved behavior, attendance, academic performance, and a graduation rate reaching 92.8% — a six-year high.
Before his work in Asheboro, Dr. Woody held key leadership roles in Orange County and Guilford County Schools and began his career as a language arts and history teacher in Greensboro, NC. He holds an undergraduate degree from Liberty University and a masters and doctorate from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where he also serves as an adjunct professor.
