Exciting things are happening at South Asheboro Middle School! On February 13, 2025, the district officially broke ground on much-needed renovations that will transform the campus and enhance learning opportunities for students.
This project is made possible through a $29.7 million capital improvement grant from the NCDPI’s Needs-Based Public School Capital Fund, with matching support from the Randolph County Commissioners. We are grateful for this investment in our schools and community!
Originally built in 1962, the South Asheboro Middle School building will see critical improvements, including:
Expanded Career and Technical Education learning spaces to better prepare students for future careers,
Improved ADA accessibility throughout the building, including a new elevator, ensuring all students can navigate their school with ease,
Updated HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems to create a healthier and more efficient learning environment,
Increased cafeteria seating to accommodate our growing student body, and
Enhanced safety provisions
These upgrades are essential to ensuring that South Asheboro Middle School continues to be a place where students can learn, grow, and thrive. As Asheboro continues to see our community evolve from new industries, we must equip our students with the skills and learning environments they need to seize future opportunities.
This project would not be possible without the support of our state legislature, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, and the Randolph County Commissioners. This project is about building a stronger, more inclusive, and more innovative learning environment for generations to come. Essential planning and design have been with Brady Services and Bobbitt Construction.
